Clearwater Arts Alliance announces the inaugural season of Pianos in Pinellas, November 25 through December 31, 2014. Eleven upright painted pianos will be placed in eleven prominent locations throughout Pinellas for the public to enjoy the art and play the pianos.

The pianos have been donated by Randy’s Wholesale Pianos and artistically painted in a variety of styles depicting life in our community. Artists include, Agnes Black, Steven Spathelf, Ya La’Ford, Beth Warmath and the students of Pinellas Primary Academy, Ann Feldshue, Junior Polo, Liz Smith, Don Scali, Robert Daltry, Don Gillepie, June Harben, Sylvia Shanahan, and Lizbeth Graham.

The eleven pianos have been sponsored and hosted by local art supporters who view this project as an ideal catalyst to elevate our community as an Arts and Cultural friendly region and to promote cultural tourism throughout the area. The public art pianos will also become public music entities and played by visitors and residents of Pinellas.

Locations for the pianos in Clearwater will include Pier 60, Fusion Cigar Lounge at Pelican Walk Plaza, Island Way Grill, Cleveland Street, Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure, Pinellas County Courthouse, Greektown Grille, Nature’s Food Patch and Randy’s Wholesale Pianos. In Dunedin, Stirling Commons and Frenchy’s Outpost.

As part of Pianos in Pinellas, performers will be encouraged to video their performance and send a link to Clearwater Arts Alliance where the entries will be judged. Winners will be selected and will perform at the Encore Party on January 14 at Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure on Cleveland Street. The Encore Party will also be the location where the art pianos will be auctioned off to interested art and music lovers. COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE ARTS with “PIANOS IN PINELLAS” An interactive public music and art project
Presented by Clearwater Arts Alliance – Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, 2014
11 pianos donated by RANDY’S WHOLESALE PIANOS, painted by 11 Artists/Groups and placed in 11 Sponsored locations.

Interested contestants are encouraged to play the pianos in any style of music from classical to jazz, from pop or Broadway or opera, as well as holiday seasonal numbers, or as accompaniment for choruses, impersonators, excerpts from musical shows, original songs. What you can do is limited only to your imagination!
• Performing artists are encouraged to video their performances (one tune) and upload a copy to YouTube and email their YouTube link to: The entries will be judged by a panel of musicians and artists and the names of the winners will be posted after January 1, 2015 on:
• Deadline for video entrees is December 28, 2014. Any contestant submitting an entry must sign the written release form granting permission for Clearwater Arts Alliance to use their video in connection with the project and the competition.

There will be a PIP Encore party on Tuesday evening January 14 from 6-8 at WINTER’S DOLPHIN TALE ADVENTURE in downtown Clearwater to celebrate the conclusion of the project, to auction off some of the pianos for the benefit of the Clearwater Arts Alliance to recognize our sponsors and artists and to honor the competition winners. At the Encore Party:
• The top three winning musicians will be invited to perform and will receive a prize.
